  • Construction Superintendent reports to the Construction General Superintendent Manager
  • Salary Range: $105,000 - $135,000 (including hotel, per diem, and a truck)
  • 30-70 percent travel
  • Secret Clearance is preferred

SUMMARY:

As a Construction Superintendent, your primary responsibility will be to oversee and manage day-to-day construction activities on-site to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. Working under the direction of the Construction General Superintendent Manager, you will lead field personnel and subcontractors, coordinate resources, and implement construction plans to achieve project objectives. Your hands-on approach and strong leadership skills will be essential in delivering high-quality workmanship and maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise and coordinate field personnel, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure construction activities are executed according to project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Conduct daily site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety performance, identifying and addressing issues promptly to prevent delays and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement construction schedules, sequencing plans, and resource allocation strategies to meet project milestones and deadlines.
  • Manage on-site logistics, including material deliveries, equipment utilization, and site access, to optimize workflow and minimize disruptions to construction activities.
  • Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety protocols, promoting a culture of safety awareness and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and inspectors, to provide updates on project progress, address concerns, and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, and as-built drawings, to support project communication, reporting, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Participate in project meetings, safety meetings, and other project-related activities as required, contributing valuable insights and expertise to facilitate effective decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Mentor and train field personnel, providing guidance, support, and feedback to promote skill development, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that construction activities are performed in accordance with contract requirements, quality standards, and best practices, striving for excellence in workmanship and customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Construction General Superintendent Manager or project leadership team.

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct daily site inspections for safety compliance and quality assurance.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and on-site personnel to ensure workflow efficiency.
  • Monitor progress of construction activities and address any issues promptly.
  • Enforce safety protocols and conduct safety meetings/toolbox talks.
  • Document daily activities, work hours, and resource utilization.

WEEKLY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review weekly progress reports and compare against project schedule and budget.
  • Attend project meetings to discuss status, milestones, and challenges.
  • Update project documentation, including logs, meeting minutes, and progress photos.
  • Review resource requirements for the upcoming week and coordinate procurement.
  • Conduct performance reviews and analyze project metrics for trends and improvements.

MONTHLY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct monthly performance reviews to evaluate project progress and adherence to standards.
  • Analyze project costs and expenses to ensure compliance with budget constraints.
  • Provide project updates to stakeholders and address any concerns or inquiries.
  • Implement cost-saving measures and optimize project profitability.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients, senior management, and regulatory authorities.

  • Safety Performance: Maintain a safe work environment with zero lost-time incidents and a high level of compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
  • Schedule Adherence: Ensure construction activities are completed on time or ahead of schedule, meeting project milestones and client expectations.
  • Quality Assurance: Deliver high-quality workmanship and construction standards, minimizing rework and warranty issues.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster positive relationships and collaboration among field personnel, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Productivity and Efficiency: Optimize resource utilization and workflow efficiency to maximize productivity and minimize waste.
  • Communication Effectiveness: Ensure clear and timely communication with project stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making and problem resolution.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Achieve high levels of client satisfaction through proactive communication, responsiveness to client needs, and quality construction delivery.
  • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment in addressing project challenges and making decisions that support project success.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Construction Superintendent, you will supervise field personnel, subcontractors, and suppliers on-site, providing leadership, direction, and support to ensure construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements. You will also collaborate with the Construction General Superintendent Manager and project leadership team to coordinate resources, resolve issues, and achieve project objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction supervision or field management
  • Thorough knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and best practices
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve excellence
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and documents
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (preferred)
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and precipitation
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may occasionally be loud
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (Safety Boots, Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, High Visibility Vest)
  • Travel is required.
