Job Description
**Job Title:** Radiology Technologist
**Job Specialty:** Diagnostic Radiology
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 8-hour day shift, 5 days a week
**Guaranteed Hours:** 40 hours per week
**Experience:** Previous radiologic technologist experience preferred. One year post-certification experience required to evaluate and/or instruct student radiographers.
**License:** State Radiologic Technologist License, where applicable
**Certifications:**
- Registered Technologist, Radiology - R.T. (R) (ARRT)
- BLS from the American Heart Association
**Must-Have:**
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of Diagnostic Imaging including Surgery and Trauma
- Strong patient care skills
- Proficient in time management and documentation
- Understanding of radiation safety and maintenance
- Experience in teaching and providing clinical education
**Job Description:**
- Provide quality patient care within the medical imaging department.
- Perform high-quality images and exams on patients while maintaining sensitivity to patient needs.
- Follow standards of safe radiation practices and demonstrate leadership abilities.
- Act as a clinical resource to students, staff technologists, and other hospital personnel.
- Perform diagnostic radiology procedures, ensuring safety for self, patients, and all other individuals.
- Adhere to rules and regulations pertaining to radiation safety, reducing exposure to as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).
- Produce quality images in a complete, accurate, and timely manner.
- Prepare patients for exams, providing information and instruction to them and their families.
- Assist patients during exams and ensure proper positioning.
- Observe patients and equipment during procedures, documenting any unusual occurrences and patient conditions.
- Facilitate smooth patient flow, scheduling, and optimal use of equipment/resources.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with physicians, imaging personnel, students, and hospital staff.
- Assist with patient transport as needed.
- Perform IV starts and contrast administration as required.
- Perform technologist duties in other registered modalities as assigned.
- Provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department/facility policy.
- Input charges and required data for procedures and supplies utilized during exams.
- Complete required hospital/medical imaging paperwork for each exam.
- Prepare room, equipment, and exam materials needed for exams.
- Maintain technical operation of equipment and notify service when necessary.
- Maintain a clean work area for employees and patients.
- Document and maintain quality checks and equipment maintenance according to department procedures.
- Be proactive in problem identification and following up with appropriate management personnel.
- Establish a motivating, constructive rapport with physicians, staff, and system departments.
- Maintain a high skill level through ongoing education and share information with staff.
- Participate in the clinical and/or didactic education of student radiographers and other healthcare professionals.
- Engage in professional activities through involvement in organizations, journal clubs, online education, etc., and demonstrate a positive attitude toward the profession.
- Actively participate in quality and process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with all State, Federal, accreditation, and hospital regulations and standards.
- Contribute to accreditation as requested.
- Demonstrate effective time management and be proactive in prioritizing workload and meeting productivity requirements.
- Adapt to rapidly changing technologies, policies, regulations, census, and staffing through priority setting and flexibility.
- Be willing to float to different facilities within the specified distance or float zone as necessary. This may include duties outside the original assignment job requirements.
