Job Description
**Job Title:** Radiology Technologist
**Job Specialty:** Diagnostic Radiology
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** Days - Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 5:30 am to 6:00 pm
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week
**Experience:** Previous Radiologic Technologist experience preferred; one year post-certification experience required to evaluate and/or instruct student radiographers.
**License:** Licensed Radiology Technologist required.
**Certifications:**
- ARRT-R: Registered Technologist, Radiology - R.T. (R) (ARRT)
- BLS: Basic Life Support, American Heart Association
**Must-Have:**
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of diagnostic imaging, including surgery and trauma, as needed.
- Strong time management skills.
- Effective communication skills in English (speak, read, write).
**Job Description:**
- Provide quality patient care within the medical imaging department.
- Perform high-quality images and exams while maintaining sensitivity to patients' needs.
- Follow standards of safe radiation practice and demonstrate leadership abilities.
- Act as a clinical resource to students, staff technologists, and other hospital personnel.
- Assure the current standards of practice for the unit.
- Perform diagnostic radiology procedures, ensuring safety for self, patients, and others.
- Practice radiation safety rules, reducing exposure to "as low as reasonably achievable" (ALARA).
- Produce quality images accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare patients for exams and provide information and instructions to patients and/or families.
- Assist patients during exams and monitor patient and equipment.
- Facilitate smooth patient flow, scheduling, and optimal use of equipment/resources.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, imaging personnel, students, and hospital staff.
- Assist with patient transport as needed.
- Perform IV starts and contrast administration as required.
- Correctly input charges and required data for procedures and supplies.
- Complete required paperwork for each exam performed.
- Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and materials as needed.
- Maintain technical operation of equipment and notify service when necessary.
- Maintain a clean work area and ensure quality checks and equipment maintenance documentation.
- Establish a motivating, constructive rapport with physicians, staff, and departments.
- Maintain high skill levels through ongoing education and meeting attendance.
- Participate in float assignments that may include duties outside original assignment requirements according to policy.
