Job Description
Job Title: Radiology Technologist
Job Specialty: Diagnostic Radiology
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 10-hour night shifts, 8:00 PM - 6:30 AM
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: One year post-certification experience required
License: LRT Kansas, required
Certifications: ARRT-R Registered Technologist, Radiology - R.T. (R) (ARRT); Current Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association
Must-Have: Knowledgeable in all aspects of Diagnostic Imaging, including Surgery and Trauma

Job Description:

- Provide quality patient care within the medical imaging department.
- Perform high-quality images and exams on patients while maintaining sensitivity to patient needs.
- Follow standards of safe radiation practices and demonstrate leadership and serve as a role model for other associate technologists.
- Act as a clinical resource to students, staff technologists, and other hospital personnel.
- Assure current standards of practice for the unit, performing diagnostic radiology procedures while ensuring safety for self, patients, and others.
- Practice all rules and regulations pertaining to radiation safety, reducing personal and patient exposure to as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).
- Produce quality images in a complete, accurate, and timely manner.
- Prepare patients for exams, providing information and instruction to patients and/or families regarding procedures and respond to their physical and emotional needs.
- Assist patients during exams and position them properly.
- Observe patients and equipment during procedures, report/document unusual occurrences, and record patient conditions.
- Facilitate smooth patient flow, scheduling, and optimal use of equipment/resources.
- Communicate in writing and verbally with all physicians, imaging personnel, students, and hospital staff to facilitate the continuum of care.
- Assist with patient transport as needed.
- Perform IV starts and contrast administration as required.
- Perform technologist duties of other registered modalities as assigned.
- Provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and/or facility policy.
- Correctly input charges and required data for procedures and for supplies utilized during procedures/exams.
- Complete required hospital/medical imaging paperwork for each exam performed.
- Prepare room, equipment, and exam materials needed for exams; maintain technical operation of equipment and notify service when necessary.
- Maintain a clean work area for employees and patients.
- Maintain quality checks and equipment maintenance documentation per department procedure.
- Be proactive in problem identification and follow up with appropriate management personnel.
- Establish a motivating, constructive rapport with physicians, staff, and system departments.
- Maintain a high skill level through ongoing education/meeting attendance and share information with staff.
- Participate in the clinical and/or didactic education of student radiographers and other healthcare professionals in teaching institutions.
- Show an interest in teaching students; encourage students to perform examinations and provide feedback on radiographs.
- Participate in clinical training and provide support to students, staff technologists, and other hospital personnel.
- Provide guidance for the development of clinical skills, explain equipment and department procedures, and support hospital and program policies/procedures.
- Engage in professional activities through involvement in organizations, journal clubs, online education, etc., and demonstrate a positive attitude toward the profession.
- Actively participate in department/hospital quality and process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with all State, Federal, accreditation, and hospital regulations and standards.
- Contribute to accreditation as requested.
- Demonstrate effective time management and be proactive in prioritizing workload and meeting productivity requirements.
- Adapt to rapidly changing technologies, policies, regulations, census, and staffing through priority setting and flexibility.

Note: Floating may be required to any location within sixty miles of the original assignment or identified float zone. Float assignments may include duties outside the original assignment job requirements (including skill set) in accordance with policy.
