About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - Neonatal Intensive Care
**Job Specialty:** NICU Level II or III
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 12-hour night shifts
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week
**Experience:** 2+ years of experience preferred
**License:** State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the NLC
**Certifications:**
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification - Required
- STABLE certification preferred
**Must-Have:**
- Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty
- Ability to float to assigned locations within a 60-mile radius if needed
**Job Description:**
- Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interviews, and review of medical records and clinical data.
- Evaluate patients' responses and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate competency in various therapeutic/diagnostic interventions, including IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
- Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient.
- Provide patient and family education by assessing learning readiness, needs, and ability.
- Recognize patients or designees as full partners in providing compassionate and coordinated care.
- Provide relationship-based care with respect for cultural differences and diversity.
- Delegate to non-RN personnel following State Board of Nursing and hospital policy.
- Use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies effectively to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes.
- Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with individualized patient and unit needs.
- Follow standards of care, hospital policies/procedures, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice.
- Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making.
- Precept/mentor new staff or nursing students as needed.
- Seek learning opportunities and continuing education to maintain skills and competence.
- Maintain professional records providing evidence of competence and lifelong learning.
- Evaluate personal nursing practice in relation to professional standards and guidelines.
- Engage in hospital and unit-based meetings and quality improvement activities.
- Use quality measures to improve performance and accountability for patient outcomes, experiences, and safe care delivery.
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities.
- Apply current healthcare research findings and evidence to expand clinical knowledge and enhance role performance.
