About The Position
Job Title: RN Float Pool

Job Specialty: Progressive Intermediate Step Down

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: 12-hour night shifts

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Experience: One year preferred

License: State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the NLC

Certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required

Must-Have: Associate Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. National Nursing Certification ANCC-approved is strongly preferred.

Job Description:

- Assume responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient.
- Promote optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient through the use of the nursing process and adherence to patient care standards and guidelines.
- Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.
- Assess patient's physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, and review of medical records and clinical data.
- Evaluate patient's response and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcome.
- Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
- Advocate and collaborate to protect health, safety, and rights of each patient.
- Provide patient/family education through assessment of learning readiness, needs, and abilities.
- Recognize the patient or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for the patient's preferences, values, and needs.
- Delegate to non-RN personnel in accordance with State Board of Nursing and hospital policy.
- Effectively use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing practice.
- Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with individualized patient and unit needs.
- Use standards of care, hospital policies/procedures, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice.
- Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care.
- Precept and mentor new staff or nursing students as needed.
- Seek out learning opportunities and continuing education to maintain skills and competence in clinical practice or role performance.
- Maintain professional records that provide evidence of competency and lifelong learning.
- Use quality measures to improve performance and accountability for patient outcomes and patient experiences, and ensure the safe delivery of care.
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities.
- Use current healthcare research findings and other evidence to expand clinical knowledge, enhance role performance, and increase knowledge of professional issues.
