About The Position
Job Title: Manager Medical Staff

Job Specialty: Site

Job Duration: 14 weeks

Shift: 8-hour day shift Interim Management Role

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Experience: Minimum of three years in medical staff governance, credentialing, medical education, or related healthcare setting. Previous leadership experience preferred.

License: n/a

Certifications: Current certification as a NAMSS Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) required

Must-Have: Strong knowledge of the Joint Commission, CMS, ACCME, and Department of Health standards. Proven supervisory skills and ability to educate and motivate physician leaders. Strong computer skills and experience with credentialing software. Proven abilities in arbitrating and negotiating issues between physicians and Medical Staff leaders/hospital departments.

Job Description:

- Provide leadership and oversight of all aspects of Medical Staff governance, including credentialing, peer review, medical staff relations, and management of multiple Medical Staff Services Departments.
- Establish effective relationships and work within multiple organizational structures and cultures, managing various systems and policies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accreditation and licensure standards and peer review laws.
- Play a key role in physician recruiting and retention, department performance improvement, and patient safety initiatives.
- Serve as a primary liaison for multiple CMOs, physicians, Medical Staff officers, department chairpersons, administration, and hospital staff.
- Collaborate with each facility's administration to integrate physician clinical and operational needs into strategic planning processes.
- Assess and update Medical Staff governance documents to comply with accreditation standards, peer review laws, and risk management philosophies.
- Manage an effective On-Call schedule to ensure adequate ER coverage while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Coordinate the dissemination of information to individual physicians, Medical Staff leadership, and hospital departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Interpret and educate Medical Staff on applicable laws and accreditation standards to ensure appropriateness of internal operations and responsiveness to external changes.
