Job Description
**Job Title:** Echo Tech Registered
**Job Specialty:** Cardiac Diagnostics
**Job Duration:** 13 Weeks
**Shift:** Days - 0700-1730, Friday-Monday (5x8 Hr)
**Guaranteed Hours:** 40 Hours
**Experience:** One year of experience in cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) preferred
**License:** Currently registered as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
**Certifications:** BLS (AHA) Required
**Must-Have:** Graduate of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate academic program in health science, or a programmatically accredited program in cardiac ultrasound strongly preferred
**Job Description:**
- Provide specialized cardiovascular care while maintaining maximum patient safety and comfort.
- Perform and review baseline patient assessments and evaluate patient responses to diagnostic cardiac procedures.
- Operate and maintain all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment proficiently, as specified by the manufacturer.
- Accurately perform echocardiograms as ordered by physicians.
- Conduct specialized testing using computer-assisted devices, including TEE, Stress Echo, and Pharmacological Stress Echoes.
- Cross-trained to perform EKGs, treadmills, and Holter monitors as needed.
- Maintain and review equipment, ensuring proper function and calibration.
- Participate in CQI, in-services, ongoing education, and attend at least 80% of staff meetings.
- Provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours, as per department and/or facility policy.
- Recognize and promptly act upon unusual results or patient responses by informing the primary healthcare team.
- Adjust approach based on patient/family level of understanding of test procedures.
- Promptly troubleshoot and correct recording instrument malfunctions or unusual patient problems.
- Independently prioritize clinical and administrative work and identify process improvements.
- Process patient and department records ensuring documentation of performed tests in accordance with hospital standards.
- May be required to float to various locations within a designated area as needed and perform duties outside of the original assignment requirements in accordance with policy.
