Senior Accountant Job Responsibilities: Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
- Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
- Summarizes financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other documents.
- Manages the payroll process and assist with the PEO relationship (Human Resources)
- Assists external tax accountant by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information.
- Avoids legal challenges by complying with legal requirements.
- Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
- Trains and manages accountants.
Work Hours and Benefits: This is a full-time roll that will oversee the daily accounting functions in our Denver and Colorado Springs, although the position be predominantly located in Colorado Springs. We offer medical, dental, vision, life insurance and a 401(k) plan.
Senior Accountant Qualifications and Skills: Knows the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Demonstrates strong technical accounting skills
- Shows strong leadership skills and manages a growing accounting team
- Knowledge of QuickBooks desktop is preferred
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a similar major is preferred
- Must have at least 5 years’ experience in accounting or finance
