Job DescriptionJob DescriptionOur Investment/Planned Giving Specialist provides assistance to the CFO with all ministry related investments. This role is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of investment accounts, projects, and activities; ensuring all information is accurate and complete in a timely manner. This position is responsible for the planned giving functions of the ministry; ensuring proper compliance and processing of all planned giving activity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Every Home for Christ.
- Adheres to the Biblical standards of moral conduct, Every Home for Christ vision statement, Every Home for Christ statement of faith, Every Home for Christ’s Employee standards and policies, Every Home for Christ’s Covenant of Harmony and upholds Every Home for Christ’s ministry in prayer.
- Fosters a culture of support and strong relational connections throughout the organization
- Provides monthly and quarterly GL reporting to CFO and Director of Finance
- Ensures effective and consistent communication lines with CFO and Director of Finance with regard to all GL related entries
Investment Responsibilities:
- Assist CFO on investment projects
- Manage monthly ministry investment entries in the GL
- Reconcile ministry investment accounts (money market, CDs, treasuries, etc) and put entries accurately into the GL
- Responsible for ministry investment activities to include payments of fees, taxes, etc
- Responsible for clear and timely communication with all third party vendors, clients, internal and external requests
- Coordinate general activities occurring for all investment properties; ensuring timely and proper follow up and solutions are implemented
Planned Giving Responsibilities:
- Oversee and implement the maintenance, support, and general ledger entries of Planned Giving portfolio
- Maintains revocable planned gifts that do not involve EHC’s direct management. i.e. Wills, Revocable Living Trusts, Life Estates, Life Insurance Trusts, etc. Tracking and completing all necessary paperwork from open to close of account.
- Creates correspondence to donors, attorneys, and personal representatives and maintains regular updates on the status of closing Wills or Trusts.
- Annually checks online directory of Unclaimed Property to locate any unclaimed funds owed to EHC/WLC and files necessary paperwork to claim said funds.
- Enters Planned Gifts. In Raiser’s Edge and delivers check copies with appropriate receipt advice to Income Processing. Deposits gift annuity funding checks to segregated Gift Annuity Reserve Trusts. Provides PG Income Worksheet to CFO monthly.
- Creates, maintains, and updates existing files for gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, special trusts, annuity trusts, net income trusts, revocable trusts, and royalty income.
- Creates proposals for gift annuity prospects and follows up on telephone for questions.
- Prepares paperwork for new immediate and deferred one- and two-life Gift Annuity contracts, from funding to delivery of income checks.
- Maintains and updates good addresses and payment instructions for income beneficiaries and trust partners. Updates Raiser’s Edge record and Custodial Account Managers accordingly.
- Assures “Beneficiary Checks Due” report agrees with investment manager’s “Payment Summary” each month. Maintains Special Handling spreadsheet for ticklers related to payment changes.
- Creates and maintains EHC-trusteed gifts on Planned Giving software.
- Processes gifts of publicly-traded, appreciated securities and mutual funds. Provides stock wire transfer instructions to donors or brokers, tracking arrival of stock and market value on gift date. Prepares a stock acknowledgement letter and a partially-completed IRS Form 8283 for the donor, selling the shares, requesting the proceeds check from Charles Schwab if gift is designated or transferring to Board Designated Endowment if not designated, and finally entering the stock gift on Raiser’s Edge and taking the proceeds check copy or transfer confirmation to Income Processing
- Closes files due to maturity or revocation for EHC-trusteed gifts, coordinating the closing with the investment manager, and following through to gift entry and delivery of remainder gift to EHC Income Processing, then closing out the gift on Raiser’s Edge software and on audit Matured Agreements spreadsheet.
- Responsible for monthly mailings for Planned Giving partners and Gift Annuity Rate Card
- Assists with annual financial audit. Creates and maintains various annual audit report spreadsheets.
- Keeps vault in good order, Maintains offsite logs and procedures for client files, closed files, stock files, etc.
- Creates Dept of Insurance compliance filings for regulated states, i.e. CA, NY, WA and others regarding issuance of Charitable Gift Annuities. Sends Audited Financial Statements yearly where required.
- Assist Finance department in other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Regularly attends/participates in a local church
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Experience: 3-5 years of similar accounting experience
- Certifications/Licensing: willing to get Notary public certification
- Believes strongly in the mission and strategy of Every Home for Christ
- Possess strong passion for evangelism, discipleship, prayer
- High level of respect and understanding of cultural values/functions in all Every Home for Christ International regions
- Demonstrate humility, grace and compassion on a regular basis
- Strong understanding of financial concepts and programs
- Strong knowledge and hands on skills with bookkeeping, accounting and financial concepts
- Demonstrate excellent professional verbal and nonverbal cross-cultural communication
- Requires reasonable tact, a high level of discretion, a controlled level of self-expression and a growing knowledge of the ministry, history, and vision of Every Home for Christ

- Must be able to travel domestically up to 5%
