Job Description
JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges. For work specific to Colorado Springs, JT4 supports the National Space Test and Training Complex (NSTTC) - Electronic Domain portion of the range.

JOB SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

A Field Engineer IV performs as a lead on more complex field engineering assignments and perform a variety of engineering assignments involving technology applications involved in the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of complex electronic/mechanical equipment and systems. Employee will be responsible for the following functions/duties:
• As mission area subject matter expert to conduct safe and secure tests, training, and exercises on the NSTTC-E. Work with customers on behalf of the 25 SRS to plan, engineer, and execute NSTTC-E events in support of tests, training and exercises
• Apply knowledge of satellite communication theory (EIRP, Gain, SFD, etc) and modern capabilities (ACM, AUPC, DSSS, etc) to events/projects
• Identify and assist in configuring satellite communications baseband equipment such as modems, signal generators, encoders and decoders, block up/down converters, spectrum analyzers, and associated equipment to satisfy plans
• Advise 25 SRS range planners, operators, and technicians on safe, secure real-time changes to signal sets and range operations in response to customer requests
• Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures
• Review and comment on requirements documents, concepts of operations, test plans, and technical papers and perform engineering studies
• Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work
• Develop, maintain, and produce signal environment documentation to include link budget analysis in C, X, Ku, and Ka frequency bands.
• Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from initial requirements to final design and test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications
• Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations
• Program and troubleshoot equipment in deployed locations per engineering specifications to ensure successful training events.
• Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work
• Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications
• Program and troubleshoot equipment in deployed locations per engineering specifications to ensure successful training events
• Perform other job-related duties, as required. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with a variety of satellite communications schemes and associated equipment is required, such as Demand Assigned Multiple Access, (DAMA), Multi-Frequency Time Division Multiple Access (MF-TDMA), Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS); digital video signal construction; familiarity with signal theory to include baseband and broadband frequency, bandwidth, modulation, forward error correction, and power spectral density.
• Knowledge of linking budget and performance calculations to include Gains / Losses / EIRP / PSD / GT / SNR / Eb / No.
• Knowledge of decibel math and conversions.
• Knowledge of SATCOM signal dynamics including modulation, error correction, and associated signal generation equipment. Familiarity performing link-budget analysis.
• Knowledge of high gain antennas and beam-width parameters.
• Familiarization of ITU, FCC, and other universally accepted standards and recommendations. REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE An associate's degree in engineering or other technical discipline, or formal academic/vocational/military training and a minimum of 12 years of experience in the specialty field are required for this position. In addition, a Field Engineer IV must possess the following qualifications:
• Broad knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enable performance as a senior technical contributor on complex projects or programs
• Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area
• Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software
• Excellent communication and analytical skills
• Planning/organizational skills.
• Active Department of Defense Top Secret with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information Clearance is preferred SALARY The expected salary range for this position is $103,000 to $163,000 annually. Note: The salary range offered for this position is a good faith description of the expected salary range this role will pay. JT4, LLC considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer. WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting and use of a computer terminal; constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents; constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication; and constant mental alertness are required. Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
