We seek an Energy Project Manager to support our vision of the energy future. In this job, you will work closely with internal and external teams, regulatory agencies, and the community to drive the permitting and construction of a nuclear facility within Colorado Springs Utilities’ generation portfolio. You will report directly to the Manager of Energy Planning & Innovation and contribute to the overall direction of the Energy Planning & Innovation team.

As a member of the team, you will provide support for the team in the following areas:

Collaborate with technology vendors and industry experts to lead the evaluation and selection of advanced nuclear technologies and reactor designs

Develop comprehensive project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation for Nuclear Early Site Permitting (ESP), technology selection, and design phases

Oversee the preparation and submission of ESP applications to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), including coordination of site evaluations, risk assessments, and environmental impact studies

Manage the conceptual and detailed design phases of the nuclear facility with multidisciplinary teams, including external consultants and engineers

Develop contract documents (scopes of work, contracts, specifications, etc.) for the procurement of goods and services and assist with capital budget planning.

Liaise with regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and the public to obtain operational requirements, address concerns, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements

Facilitate regular project meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration among team members, address stakeholder concerns, and provide progress updates

Prepare and present project status reports to senior management, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders

Coordinate with engineering, regulatory, and environmental teams to ensure alignment and integration of project activities
What will it take to be successful in this position? The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to be at the forefront of nuclear technology, working on cutting-edge projects that contribute to a reliable and sustainable energy future. You will be detail-oriented, with an aptitude for solving unstructured problems and have the flexibility to navigate the complexity of nuclear facility development.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management. A focus on nuclear projects and site permitting is preferred.

Strong leadership and organizational skills, with experience managing large, multidisciplinary teams.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with regulatory bodies, stakeholders, the public and team members.

Proficiency in project management software and tools.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with advanced reactor designs and technologies.

In-depth knowledge of NRC regulations and the ESP process.
