Position Summary

The Assistant to the Director of Nursing is responsible for Restorative Program and restorative aides, direct supervisor to Unit Clerks, quality audits and competencies as assigned. The ADON is also responsible for holding nursing staff accountable for job performance to assure quality resident care as well as compliance with all Local, State and Federal requirements.

Essential Duties

  • Problem solves issues raised during rounds and is responsible for follow-up and accountability for licensed staff and aides.
  • Completes nursing audits as assigned, and the ability to recognizes and audit other potential areas for quality checks.
  • Must have the ability to critically think and adjust processes as needed to meet quality standards.
  • Functions as the Restorative Nurse to include management of the restorative aides, Bowel and Bladder program, restraints, restorative program, falls and trends
  • Directly supervises Unit Clerks/Scheduler and their duties as assigned to them
  • Submits action plans to the DON when needed to address issues with policies, procedures and standards of care.
  • Participates in the daily stand-up meeting, as well as other meetings as assigned.
  • Assumes duties of the Director of Nursing in his/her absence or as assigned by the Administrator.
  • Provides information to the appropriate supervisor regarding nursing employee's performance in orientation and in-service classes and on the floor.
  • Familiarizes self with all residents throughout the facility.
  • Uses local, state and national standards in designing content and maintaining quality of programs.
  • Participates in facility committees as requested by DON and/or Administrator.
  • Uses human and material resources appropriately.
  • Provides 1:1 supervision, demonstration, and spot checks for aides and licensed staff in clinical area.
  • Must be flexible and work additional nursing shifts as needed to help cover unexpected nursing staff shortages.
  • Other duties as assigned within scope.
  • Alternates Nursing "Call" with the nursing management team.
  • Accepts other job related assignments from Administrator and/or DON.
  • Makes rounds on daily basis.
  • Administers progressive discipline for job performance for aides and licensed staff.

Basic Qualifications & Experience

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado.
  • Minimum one year's experience as a Registered Nurse in a long term care facility.
  • Able to interact with various size groups as well as individuals.
  • Able to organize and maintain paper work and documentation requirements.
  • Able to support the goals of the facility and function as Assistant to the Director of Nurses including but not limited to taking Nursing "Call" as needed.

Pay Range Minimum: $75,000; Maximum:$90,000 The base range represents the low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
