Job Description

Position Summary:

As a Aircraft Structural Technician, you will utilize your technical expertise to perform advanced assembly and part-fitting operations on aerospace vehicles. This includes tasks such as filing, sawing, trimming, riveting, drilling, and reaming. You will align parts on jigs and templates, verify dimensions using precision tools, and may modify assemblies to incorporate changes. Additionally, you will ensure quality standards are met in accordance with statistical process control or other procedures.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and create major structural components for aerospace vehicles.
  • Perform minor part-fitting operations using tools like files, saws, and burrs.
  • Align parts on jigs and aerospace vehicles using templates, fixtures, and measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Modify incomplete or completed assemblies and integrate changes into the structure.
  • Monitor and verify quality, adhering to process control procedures.
  • Interpret and apply technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and manuals.
  • Install fasteners, including rivets and hi-locks, according to technical drawings while maintaining edge distance and pitch.
  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs or steps.
  • Perform repetitive hand, arm, and finger motions, requiring dexterity.
  • Vision abilities include close, distance, depth perception, and color differentiation.
  • Discern different tones and volumes, with occasional exposure to loud noises.
  • Frequently lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to outdoor elements such as extreme temperatures, sun, rain, and snow.
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous materials and chemicals.
  • Frequently exposed to loud environments.
  • Responsible for ensuring the safety and security of people and property.
  • Inspection of structures, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Perform aviation-related duties.
  • Operate or supervise heavy or dangerous equipment or machinery.


Required Skills:

  • Must own tools in good working condition.
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and manuals.
  • Experience with structure assembly, minor part-fitting techniques, and airframe corrosion removal.
  • Proficient in installing various fasteners such as rivets and hi-locks.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Background in Aerospace and Defense, US Department of Defense, NASA, or US Military.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (if required).

Education and Experience:

  • Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent with typically 5 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Higher-level degrees may substitute for experience.
  • Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education.
