The City of Commerce City is looking to hire a variable-hour employee for the Administrative Specialist II position. This position is a non-benefied, temporary position expected to last 3-6 months, and will typically be Monday through Friday.

The Administrative Specialist II provides complex clerical and administrative support; develops and maintains effective and efficient operations for the division; and provides exceptional customer service to citizens and staff by providing information, answering questions, or directing them to the appropriate resources. Maintains required degree of confidentiality on all projects, documents, reports, and events. Works under general supervision.

Hiring salary is dependent upon experience. The hiring range is $20.0696 - 25.0870 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications

High School or GED diploma and a minimum of three years' experience in general office work and two years' customer service experience required. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Must have solid computer skills/proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications and good basic mathematical skills.

Knowledge of:

  • Spelling, grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, and properword usage
  • Writing, editing, and revising materials prepared byothers
  • Office procedures and office etiquette
Skill in:
  • Operating office equipment including Office 365 applications
  • Time management and scheduling
  • Business letter writing and report preparation
Ability to:
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Use a multi-line telephone system
  • Adapt to changing priorities and deadlines

Recreation Center Membership: Employees are eligible for a membership to the Commerce City Recreation Center for $5.00 per year.

Golf Course Green Fees: Employees can play the City's award-winning Buffalo Run Golf Course at a rate of $9.00 for 9-holes or $18.00 for 18-holes. Employees can also purchase golf merchandise at discounted prices.

Benefits: The city monitors the hours worked for seasonal and variable hour employees. In the event that they work more than 1,560 hours within the ACA measurement period, they will be offered health benefits.

Wellness: Employees are eligible to earn up to $100 for participation in various wellness activities offered by the City throughout the year.

Eligibility for Pay Increases: Employees are eligible for a pay increase around the time of their annual appraisal following a successful evaluation.
