Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse
Job Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 10-hour day shift, 06:30 - 17:00 or 06:30 - 19:00
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: One year of experience preferred, CVOR experience required
License: State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
Certifications:
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
Must-Have:
- Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to cardiovascular operating room specialty
- Ability to float to various locations within 60 miles as needed
Job Description:
- Assume responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team and the patient/family to address physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
- Promote optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient through the nursing process in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act.
- Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care and adherence to organizational mission and core values.
- Assess patient's physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records, and clinical data.
- Evaluate patient's response and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic interventions, including IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection.
- Provide patient and family education based on assessment of learning readiness, needs, and ability.
- Delegate appropriately to non-RN personnel in line with state regulations and hospital policy.
- Use resources effectively to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Act as a professional role model demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes.
- Manage resources and patient flow efficiently.
- Precept and mentor new staff or nursing students as needed.
- Pursue continuous learning opportunities and maintain professional records that demonstrate competency and lifelong learning.
- Engage in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities.
- Use evidence and research findings to expand clinical knowledge and enhance role performance.
