What you'll do...

Walmart is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Systems Engineer II to join our Compute Engineering Services team. This role is pivotal in managing and maintaining the physical IT devices within our data centers. The successful candidate will have a strong background in data center operations, hardware management, and system administration.

Building the right technology foundation for Infrastructure & platforms is vital to success at the scale of Walmart. Our team builds and maintains the foundational technologies that support the tech organization. Included in this are data platforms, enterprise architecture, DevOps, cloud computing, and infrastructure. All of these products and services are supported by scalable and powerful infrastructure, ensuring a secure and seamless employee and customer experience across stores, digital channels, and distribution centers.

What you'll do:

Responsibilities

  • Data Center Management: Installation, configuration, maintenance, and decommissioning of physical IT devices in the data center.
  • Hardware Management: Manage servers, storage devices, networking equipment, and other hardware components to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues related to data center equipment.
  • Network Configuration: Configure and manage network connections for data center devices, ensuring efficient communication.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory, configurations, and system changes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams, including network engineering, software development, and IT support, to ensure seamless operations.
  • Compliance: Ensure all data center operations comply with company policies and industry standards, including security and environmental regulations.
  • Capacity Planning: Assist in capacity planning and resource allocation to support current and future data center needs.
  • Emergency Response: Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for critical issues outside of regular business hours.


What you'll bring:

  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in managing physical servers, storage systems, and network hardware.
    • Knowledge of network protocols and configurations (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
    • Understanding of fiber, CAT 6, fiber/cable testing
    • Utilization of JIRA, Confluence, Nlyte
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

The annual salary range for this position is $70,000.00-$130,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
