The Senior Accountant will provide excellent customer service across all functional responsibilities while maintaining the highest integrity in financial reporting. The Senior Accountant will be working collaboratively with all departments to deliver accurate and timely information in a courteous, cooperative, and cost-effective manner to the clients. The Senior Accountant will be assigned larger / more complex clients. This role will perform a variety of accounting and finance duties needed to contribute to the client’s growth and success.

Essential Job Functions
• Prepare and communicate accurate, high-quality financial statements, analysis, and advice to non-profit leadership on a timely basis.
• Present client financial statements to the Board of Directors or internal client staff members.
• Prepare and record general ledger transactions maintaining proper audit support.
• Ensure key account reconciliations are accurate and support is available for audit purposes.
• Assist in month-end financial statements and variance analysis.
• Maintain and reconcile fixed assets schedules.
• Review of peer financials.
• Assist clients with annual budget preparation and cash forecasts.
• Assist client auditors by providing reconciliations, internal financial reports and mediating if needed.
• Comply with financial policies and regulations.
• Prepare and e-file 1099s for contractors.
• Assist clients with grant management and federal grant reporting.
• Manage projects, oversee progress, and identify and communicate issues
• Assist the Manager of Accounting Operations, Manager of Systems Design and Integration and the CEO on special projects, staff training, or other assignments as may be requested.
• Work with MIP Fund Accounting software, EWS, Microix, Excel, Word, Practice CS, and other software as assigned. Training is provided.
• Maintain excellent communications and relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Continuing professional education.

Competencies
• High level proficiency in MIP and Excel, and above-average competencies in other software used within 501(C)PA’s operations
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and regulatory compliance requirements, especially with respect to non-profit organizations
• Ability to be flexible while working on concurrent projects of equal importance
• Ability to work independently, complete work timely, and work well as a team member
• Must be an outstanding communicator, and have established skills in accuracy, organization, and working in a high-volume environment
• Demonstrated ability to work in a leadership role, decision-making, and supervising junior-level subordinates.
• Demonstrated ability to support all other departments within the company and coordinate training and information sessions
• Demonstrated mature judgment and collaboration skills
• Strong organization, project management and problem-solving skills
• Strong accounting skills, including all aspects of the accounting cycle and non-profit financial statement preparation
• Solid understanding of non-profit budgeting, variance analysis and reports
• Sound grasp of grant reporting and related account structures
